Torvaldaliga Nord Termal Power Plant Enel Civitavecchia: Coastal Fill “La Mattonara”
The reef was built to confine a sea surface in the “La Mattonara” area, necessary for the future storage of dredged material and the confinement of the “Darsena Energetica Grandi Masse.”
The reef has a maximum height of +4.80 m and +5.70 m above mean sea level. It has a core of tout venant over which a geotextile membrane has been placed to limit the loss of material within the tout venant.
The berm is composed of natural stones ranging in size from 1 to 3 tons, while the first layer is also made of natural material ranging in size from 0.1 to 1.0 tons.
The outer layer is composed of natural stones weighing up to 9 tons.
To allow for the docking of barges, a caisson berth was constructed.
