Porche Center Nardo’ Lecce
The Nardò Technical Center is a hub for prototype vehicle development and testing, comprising over 20 tracks, including a 12-kilometer ring, and approximately 40 workshops. Demolition and reconstruction plans for some of these workshops were developed, complete with an adjoining covered area for charging electric vehicles.
The detailed design encompassed all aspects, including architecture, structure, and systems. For the architecture, the environmental and landscape constraints were respected, which guided the design in terms of geometry and material selection. For the interiors, the design followed the client’s instructions regarding layout across the various levels, equipment, and services to be provided to automakers during testing.
20 workshops were designed, with all the necessary equipment for all types of testing on the ground floor, connected to independent office and recreation areas on the first floor, and several meeting rooms on the second floor. The structural design, once the geotechnical characteristics of the soil had been verified, was also designed in compliance with these guidelines. All workshops were equipped with a series of state-of-the-art systems and equipment; each workshop installed at least two car lifts, compressed air systems, high-performance electrical and special systems, etc.
The executive project therefore included:
- the demolition of the existing workshops
- the internal and external renovation of the structures for the construction of 20 new, high-quality workshops;
- the redevelopment of the outdoor areas, including those intended for the storage and charging of at least seven vehicles.
