Port Of Trieste Rizzo Sud Breakwater
The project aimed to restore the structure to its original integrity, respecting its historical identity.
The design and modeling phases were preceded by a careful study of the geomorphological conditions of the site where the structure is located and its state of conservation.
Following data acquisition, the existing state was reconstructed using BIM methodology, both geometrically and structurally. All elements of the dam (artificial boulders, facing stones, and paving stones) were modeled, respecting the actual configuration and quality of the materials, highlighting all degraded areas.
The interventions envisaged in the project include:
- Anchoring the edges and facing stones to the body of the dam using galvanized steel bars embedded in grout;
- Consolidation of the seaward facing stone using core drilling and the insertion of steel bars and collaborating mortar;
- Consolidation of the submerged boulders, both seaward and harborward, by stitching the entire head;
- Horizontal nailing of damaged sections of rocks;
- Removal and repair of damaged rocks, including subgrade; Repair of bollards and fenders;
- Repair of the gullies and resurfacing of the cliff at the North Head
