Port of Gioia Tauro Western Quay

The project involves the completion of the western quay on the north side, for a total length of 385.50 m and includes the following works:
main straight section of approximately 325 m, connecting to the north with platform section ‘F’ and to the south with platform section ‘G’;

• a section of approximately 60 m, built over the existing platform ‘G’;
• a closing turn-over orthogonal to platform section ‘G’;
• a yard behind the platform, whose finishing package consists of a stabilized layer with a minimum thickness of 40 cm, a 17 cm thick base layer, 10 cm thick bituminous binder, and a 3 cm thick wearing course of SPLIT-MASTIX anti-skid type bituminous concrete;
• installation of ducts for future systems;
• rainwater collection network including two oil separators;
• Installation of dockside furnishings (bollards, fenders, and stainless steel ladders).

The dockside construction solution involves the installation of steel bulkheads, composed of AZ26-700 sheet piles, up to -22.40 m above sea level, with load-bearing elements made of ø1829 mm, 20 mm thick tubular steel, up to a depth of -30.00 m above sea level.
To ensure stability, the bulkheads are anchored using M110 steel bars to a continuous reinforced concrete beam placed at an appropriate distance.
