Port Of Costanza, Romania
The Romanian coastline along the Black Sea is subject to erosion phenomena that not only result in the loss of particularly valuable land but also impact coastal ecosystems, causing economic and social damage to the entire area.
The Administratia Bazinala de Apa Dobrogea Litoral (Dobrogea Seaside Water Basin Administration), connected to the Romanian Waters National Administration (RWNA), has developed the Masterplan ‘Protection and Restoration of the Coastal Area’ to contain these phenomena.
As part of the Reduction Of Coastal Erosion Phase II (2014-2020), the intervention area has been divided into 11 lots, covering a total development of over 30 km of coastline.
The aim of this intervention is to protect and restore the coastal zone of the city of Constanța and its related environmental components through engineering works that combat the erosion phenomenon, support the revival of the marine ecosystem, and reintegrate species lost from the ecosystem, while protecting marine biodiversity and the shoreline.
The project is financially supported by the European Union Cohesion Fund – Large Infrastructure Operational Program (LIOP) 2014-2020.
Michelangelo Lentini is involved in the Works Management as the Project Director, overseeing the project, which includes a Resident Engineer as per the Yellow FIDIC Contract, and provides technical support to the client in supervising the design phases for each of the 11 lots of the intervention.
